Drink all of the margs during Australian Cocktail Month this May

Whether your tipple of choice is a margarita, mojito, martini or a spritz, when 5:00 pm on a Friday rolls around, one thing is for sure – it’s cocktail o’clock. In a win for avid sippers, our enthusiasm for a well-crafted imbibe is being rewarded with a new four-week event. Prepare to immerse yourself in a celebration of all things boozy as Australian Cocktail Month pours in to Brisbane from May 1–31. If you’re eager to drink local and support your local bars whilst getting exclusive access to top-notch cocktail menus, then this is the perfect event for you …

Held across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, Australian Cocktail Month will partner with some of our favourite local and international alcohol brands to champion the country’s bar industry, which took a particularly heavy beating during 2020. In a choose-your-own-adventure style format, bar hoppers will be able to unlock unique drinking experiences with their Australian Cocktail Month ticket. The $20 ticket (plus fees), allows guests access to a special menu of cocktails, priced at $14, created exclusively for the month. Alcohol abstainers will be happy to hear that Australian Cocktail Month has partnered with Lyre’s to help spotlight its lip-smacking range of non-alcoholic spirits, with bars also pouring mocktails for the sweet price of $10 a piece.

Founded by industry figure Penny Sippe, this brand-new event will feature local brands including the Sunshine Coast’s 2020 DistilleryBarossa Distilling and Feels Botanicals, along with a range of international players such as Hendrick’s Gin, Patrón Tequila, Woodford Reserve Whiskey and Sailor Jerry Rum. Eighteen venues across the city will take part in the exciting inaugural event, including The GreshamSavile RowDeath and TaxesLa Costa Restaurant & BarSuzie Wong’s Good Time Bar and Commercial Road Public Bar.

A ticket to Australian Cocktail Month can be used at any participating venue throughout May (peep the full list of participating venues here), and is available to snap up here. Happy hour just got a whole lot more happier.
