Say bienvenue to the Alliance Française French Film Festival

Think of France and more often than not your mind will linger on an array of devastatingly rich cuisine, where aged cheeses intermingle with crisp baguettes and rich wine at a single meal. But, as well as its buttery pastry and (of course) unfalteringly chic women, the Gallic nation is also home to film fanatics and creators, who are celebrated at the annual Alliance Française French Film Festival.

Each year, the Alliance Française Film Festival screens some of the latest, most popular and most controversial film creations to come out of France. The 2013 event will be hosted from March 14 to April 4 at Palace Cinemas locations at both Centro on James Street and at the Barracks precinct. The cinematic foray will feature the screenings of 43 French films, most of which are seeing their debut in Australia as a part of the festival.

This year is the 24th anniversary of the festival’s arrival in Australia and will include a huge array of genres, from documentaries to drama, thrillers and some light-hearted romantic escapades to enjoy. Part of the line-up for this year is the classic Children of Paradise, the comedic Haute Cuisine and the historical foray Farewell My Queen (starring the ever-popular, Diane Kruger). You will find the full list of films  available online, where tickets to each of the screenings can also be purchased.
