Palace Cinemas is once again bringing the finest in French cinema to Brisbane, with so many must-see films on offer for closet francophiles.

Ever year lovers of foreign cinema wait with baited breath for the arrival of the Alliance Française French Film Festival. The acclaimed touring cinema festival brings some of the finest French flicks from the acclaimed classics to recent hits to local picture houses, showing how things are done outside of Hollywood. From Friday March 11 to Sunday April 3, Palace Centro and Palace Barracks will play host to a whipping 48 films, ranging from drama to comedy as well as a selection of five popular French television shows.

The 2016 festival includes a wondrous selection of films, but perhaps none as engaging as the opening night selection Rosalie Blum, a film about a chance encounter that created hilarious and dramatic – yet completely unexpected –consequences. Other festival highlights include a special screening of wine making film, First Growth, which is accompanied by a wine and cheese tasting, as well as an opera night screening of Marguerite with a pre-screening party complete with French catering and sparkling wine. Wrapping up proceedings for 2016 with be the closing night gala screening of Contempt starring Brigitte Bardot. Head to the Alliance Française French Film Festival website to have a look at the full list of films and ticketing options.
