Advice From Your Mother

Celebrate your mum with Advice From Your Mother

Don’t slouch. Don’t swim with a full stomach. Don’t speak with your mouth full. A mother’s advice can range from the helpful to the annoying, as well as the just plain questionable. In ode to mothers everywhere, and all the quirky advice they give, Spool Collective has produced the Advice From Your Mother exhibition.

The multi-arts exhibition will act as a foray into the role of the matriarch and their wise words of wisdom left imparted, for better or worse, on their brood. Ten local artistic talents have contributed to the display, including the likes of Sarah Winter, Alex Winters, Charlie Hillhouse and Barek. Each of these artists has chosen a single medium to showcase their skills while exploring the theme. The result is the production of vastly different reflections on a mother’s advice.

Walking through the studio you’ll see artworks incorporating photography, film, dance, sculpture and painting – all mediums have been embraced by the artists to create intriguing and complex explorations of the role of motherhood. If you wish to check out the collection of pieces, Advice From Your Mother will be on display at Love Love Studio’s home in Teneriffe this weekend.

@ Love Love Studio, November 2–4
