4ZZZ’s Happyfest launches the 2014 Radiothon

Beloved Brisbane community radio station 4ZZZ will launch its annual fundraising drive tomorrow, Friday August 22, with a bunch of events over ten fruitful days.

When Brisbane’s 4ZZZ went to air for the very first time back in December 1975, it was applauded as the first community FM broadcaster in Australia. Since that time, the station has championed our local music scene and kept us entertained at all hours, so now it’s time to balance out the relationship and give a little something back. Each year, the not-for-profit station holds a ten-day membership drive to help raise funds to support its running costs. The 2014 Radiothon will kick off with boutique music festival Happyfest tomorrow, Friday August 22, which will see bands like Martyr Privates, Workshop, Cobwebbs, Thigh Master and Mad Boots spilling over three levels of Fortitude Valley dive bar The Underdog.

If you can’t get along to fill your earholes tomorrow night, show your support at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Barbecue back at The Underdog from 1:00 pm on Sunday, an evening of tunes curated by 4ZZZ at The End next Tuesday August 25, a Slab Cinema movie night next Wednesday August 27, or at a barefoot bowls Retro-Active Challenge at Club Greenslopes on Sunday August 31.
