4ZZZ celebrates 40 years with ten days of celebrations

One of Australia’s longest running community radio stations is celebrating 40 years of being on air. Over ten days the station will host a heap of gigs, competitions and flashbacks to the station’s inception.

From December 4–13 4ZZZ will be hosting a series of events celebrating 40 years in the community radio industry. The milestone will be reached on December 8, where the station will run special on-air programming, including a current affairs retrospective showcase of the very first broadcast. Former announcers and bands will visit the station to talk about past memories and Brisbane music from across four decades.

On December 4 the Old Museum will host a 4ZZZ 40th Birthday Market, where market stalls and food vendors will be fill the outdoor courtyard. Inside the Old Museum will be musical performances from Brisbane bands including Velociraptor, Blank Realm, Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side, Xero and The Leftovers. The market portion of the event is free, but tickets must be purchased for the music showcase. The Beetle Bar will be hosting a show by Hits, Some Jerks and Eyes Ninety on December 11, Feathers will reunite for a one-off show at Trainspotters on December 12 and The Triffid will host a special edition of the RNR BBQ, boasting performances from We All Want To, The Bear Hunt and The Steady As She Goes.
