With Christmas just around the corner, we think there’s no better time to cash in that annual leave and splash out on a staycay in Brisbane. Take your R&R to the next level this festive season with a few nights in some fancy digs and a delicious dining experience. To help you plan your inner-city trip, we’ve taken the liberty of rounding up our favourite staycay spots in Brisbane and pairing them with a perfect venue to treat your tastebuds – you’re welcome!

Treasury Hotel x Fat Noodle
You can’t get any more central than Treasury Hotel, a luxe staycay destination that has everything you need for a fun-filled and fancy Brisbane holiday. The hotel itself is dripping in old-world splendour and finery, so if royal vibes are your thing it’s a sure bet. As for the food, the offering is anything but ordinary. A visit to Fat Noodle is a must – you can fill your belly with bites from chef Luke Nguyen’s mouth-watering menu including Luke’s legendary 20-hour Fat Pho Noodles, a fiery laksa and Canh Chua Hai San (seafood tamarind soup).

Hyatt Regency Brisbane x Jumbo Thai
If you judge a hotel by its pool, Hyatt Regency Brisbane will absolutely top your list. It’s not just the premium poolside amenities that make this Queen Street gem a total oasis – the luxury features and show-stopping location are bound to tick more things off your staycay wishlist. As for dining, take your tastebuds on an adventure at Jumbo Thai and lap up snacks like the restaurant’s signature butterfly-pea dumplings with caramel peanuts and sweet pickled radish, five-spice duck spring rolls and pulled-pork baos.

The Westin x Leonards Brisbane
Those seeking a taste of five-star luxury can pack their bags and head to The Westin. This inner-city beauty has rooms with skyline views, a luxe spa overlooking the stunning pool space, and is just 250-m away from the City Botanic Gardens. Hungry folk wanting to indulge in some truly tantalising eats can make way to Leonard’s Bar & Bistro, a stylish New York-inspired restaurant that serves up the likes of barbecued Mooloolaba swordfish with enoki and butter sauce, charcoal grilled abrolhos octopus with molasses onions and curry oil, and braised sovereign lamb shoulder with barberries and walnut.

Hotel Indigo x Izakaya Publico
Another sophisticated addition to Brisbane City’s accommodation scene – Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre – opened this year in riverside North Quay and it’s much, much more than just a place to rest your weary head. The quirky hotel is lined with hand-painted artworks and murals created by local Queensland artists including a large-scale artwork of a wren inspired by Trent Dalton’s Boy Swallows Universe. The culinary offering is nothing to scoff at either, with its signature restaurant Izakaya Publico offering an authentic Japanese dining experience using locally sourced produce. As the first restaurant in Australia with a Warayaki Grill, diners can tuck into flavoursome grilled fare like bonito tataki and kushiyaki skewers alongside other Japanese-inspired dishes.

Sofitel Brisbane Central x Rothwell’s Bar & Grill
Those wanting a taste of the French life without an expensive plane ticket can get their fix at Sofitel Brisbane Central, where luxurious rooms with sweeping views, an inviting outdoor pool and spa and five-star service awaits. Diners looking to have an elevated epicurean experience can head to Edward Street’s Rothwell’s Bar & Grill, a classic bistro that’s the result of a partnership between the owner of 1889 Enoteca and the former head chef of Aria Brisbane. Pair a martini with a seafood platter brimming with oysters, prawns, scallops, crab and tuna or the delicious steak tartare with potato crisps.

Stamford Plaza x Walter’s Steakhouse
As one of Brisbane’s favourite riverside hotels, Stamford Plaza lives up to its reputation. Located on the banks of the Brisbane River and just a stone’s throw to the Botanic Gardens, the impeccably designed hotel is the perfect place to base yourself for a Brisbane staycation. When the time comes for a bite to eat, Walter’s Steakhouse is the place to go with an empty stomach – you can stick a fork in to grain-fed porterhouse, pork prime rib with savoury poached pear and cider jus, and grilled rock lobster with preserved lemon butter.

Emporium Hotel South Bank x TakashiYa
With amazing views, a bounty of luxe eateries at your fingertips and a 23-m infinity-edge rooftop pool, it’s safe to say a staycation spent at Emporium Hotel will send your senses into overdrive. Lavish suites will impress those who want to relax in style whilst culinary adventurers will also be satisfied with the in-house restaurant offerings. Our choice is Japanese omakase restaurant and bar TakashiYa, located at the base of Emporium Hotel. It’s here where eager diners can indulge in a salivation-inducing feast – think world-class omakase fare alongside top-tier whisky and sake.

W Brisbane x Persone
Those who love to live it up like a celebrity can max out on lavish extras at W Brisbane. The five-star hotel is a feast for the senses and is home to lounge-meets-cocktail bar The Living Room Bar and poolside haunt WET® Deck, a fourth-floor oasis boasting killer cocktails and spectacular views. As for the food, Italian restaurant Persone is well worth pulling up a seat at. Lap up the likes of burrata with beetroot, orange and horseradish, braised beef shin gnocchi with mushrooms, cavolo nero and ricotta and prochetta with braised fennel, apple and prunes.

Novotel South Bank x Hello Please
A staycay favourite among river-city locals, Novotel Brisbane South Bank is a primo place to soak up all the goodness that Brisbane’s southside has to offer. With an excellent location (you’re moments away from the city’s cultural precinct as well as the area’s spectacular selection of restaurants and bars) and floor-to-ceiling views looking across the river, what more could you want in a staycay option? Make your stay extra special with a visit to South Bank drinking and dining destination OTTO. Load up on Sydney rock oysters with pickled cucumber and finger lime, blue swimmer crab pasta and Longreach lamb with zucchini, goat’s feta, lemon, almonds and mint.

Adina x The Boom Boom Room
For history and heritage lovers, this Brisbane staycation combination is a hard one to top. George Street lodging Adina Apartments melds together Art Deco charm with artfully restored interiors to offer world-class comfort. The historic vibes continue all the way down to the basement where you will find The Boom Boom Room, a hip Japanese-inspired bar housed inside a former bank vault. Order a House Highball and graze on delectable dishes like twice-cooked pork belly, miso apple and pork floss furikake yakitori, koji-glazed lamb rump with tama miso, fennel and pickled onion and Moreton Bay bug with kombu and wasabi butter.
