Work Shop Objects crafts sustainable timber objects in Newstead

Builder Morgwn Wilkie and architect Georgina Goddard have joined forces to create Work-Shop, based in Newstead. Channelling local and handcrafted sensibilities, Work Shop Objects designs a variety of timber objects using sustainable methods.

Starting out with the Nesta Children’s Range of cubby place spaces, storage shelves and sand boxes, the pair has since produced a series of pieces for the adult room, including a key rest and book rest. The key rest attaches to the wall of your entry, with spaces to keep those pesky keys safe and store new letters, while the book rest lets you put your most prized magazines, tomes or even art frames on display. We’re also quiet partial to the pastel-hued WALL-REST. Made from Australian-sourced, Forest Stewardship Council-certified timber plywood, these eye-catching blocks are splashed with a shade of Ecolour paint.

However, our pick of the bunch is the impressive Bike Rest. Finished in clear bees wax, the BIKE-REST is made from the same conscientious timber plywood. Your precious bicycle is cradled by a smooth leather sling, proudly elevating (and exhibiting) your two wheels. Find the Work Shop Objects studio in Austin Street in Newstead. Morgwn and Georgina also complete work with other architects, interior and industrial designers on short run bespoke timber objects.
