Most of us sip our coffee or spoon up our brekkie from some form of crockery, so why not make the experience a little more special by investing in some handmade ceramic beauties.

Melbourne-based ceramic designer, Ingrid Tufts, knows a thing or two about throwing a ceramic pot. And we don’t mean in a violent way. Ingrid is an expert at crafting hand-thrown and slipcast stoneware and porcelain into playful, yet functional wares. Operating under the business name Tufts, Ingrid produces a range of tableware and decorative ceramics for restaurants, homeware designers, retailers and collectors, with each vessel being slightly different – a welcome consequence of the hand-making process. Some of her stoneware creations include coffee cups in soft winter colours, turquoise soup bowls, a charming vase to house blooms from your admirer.

Collaborating with other local artists, particularly illustrators, is also high on Ingrid’s agenda. The pretty Tufts + Campbell Magnolia Bowl and unique Tuft + Quirk candle holders (originally made for Opera Australia) are proof that two heads are better than one.

Shop for a select range of Tuft goodies online, or head to Artisan in Fortitude Valley to check out the Daisy range in all its glory.
