The Botanist plants its roots in Bakery Lane

Stocking a wide range of colourful flowers and lush greenery, The Botanist is one of the best spots to grab some flora to spruce up your surroundings.

As Bakery Lane grows and blooms into Fortitude Valley’s premier dining and shopping destination, its selection of stores expands as well. One of the newest vendors to open in Bakery Lane is The Botanist, a haven for green thumbs, interior decorators and those looking to add a dash of freshness to their living space. Owned and operated by Nicole Cooper, The Botanist was created with the goal of greening up Brisbane one cactus at a time. Catering to apartment dwellers and newcomers to plant appreciation, Nicole has created an approachable space where curious patrons can shop for visually captivating, locally sourced plants and vessels for low cost.

The Botanist stocks a range of flora including cactus varieties, succulents, fiddle figs and flowers of all shapes and sizes. 90 per cent of The Botanist’s stock is sourced from within Queensland, with an emphasis on supporting local growers and wholesale nurseries. Soon The Botanist will install a potting station with regular workshops taking place to educate customers on how to pot, maintain and care for their plants. New plants arrive weekly, with a forthcoming online store allowing customers to select their perfect vessel and plant combination, ready to pick up in-store. Keep checking in at The Botanist over the coming months as the store grows – plants will soon be cascading from ceiling cages and a green archway is to be grown over the store entrance.
