Sea breezes, swaying palms, endless blue skies, peace and tranquillity – these are the things we seek when we go on holiday. Rose King and Stefan Ackerie have brought a slice of lavish living to Brisbane with The Bach – a new home wares, gifts and fashion emporium that offers resort-style furnishings with a tropical aesthetic.

Along Montague Road sits an expansive warehouse that is filled to the brim with exquisite unique furniture that turns any home into a five-star beachside hotel. A ‘bach’ is the colloquial term for beach house in New Zealand, and with that in mind The Bach in West End has collected more than 1000 home wares and 500 furniture items that follow a boho Bali, African-luxe and Hampton house vibe. The majority of wares have been sourced from an Indonesia-based, Danish designer who has fitted resorts in Bora Bora, the Maldives and New York City, conceptualising and manufacturing the furniture and shipping it directly to the West End warehouse.

The Bach offers a range of indoor and outdoor pieces, with a large portion made from strong teak, which can survive the ever-changing Queensland weather. Unique suar wood tables, centrepiece vases, wicker chairs, luxurious rugs and cushions are just a fragment of the goods available, with new collections arriving five times a year. Expect leather lounges, day beds and other furnishings to arrive in the coming weeks, as well as a fashion range, featuring local designers and a few garments designed in house. Patrons are encouraged to wander and linger with a free coffee (or cheeky champagne on weekends) to find the perfect piece to turn their home into a paradise.
