Based on the Gold Coast, Susan uses basic and traditional techniques to create her unique pieces, achieving a rustic and textural finish. Each clay piece is rolled and shaped by hand, meaning that no two pieces are exactly the same – key features of Susan’s aesthetic being the uneven edges, organic shapes and other minor ‘imperfections’, such as fingerprints. Playing with decoration and glazing techniques, Susan creates contrasting tones and textures with each design.
