Sheets on the Line opens Paddington shop
There’s nothing quite like slipping your tired body between freshly laundered, soft sheets come the end of a busy weekend. Hospital corners tucked just so, the top folded down over the doona, creating a multi-layered, colourful cloud of a bed. Local bed linen designers Steven and Debra Clifford-Ames harnessed the important role sheets play in delivering a good night’s sleep and channelled it into organic brand Sheets on the Line.
Commencing as an online retailer a little more than 18 months ago, Sheets on the Line has now followed its natural progression into a tactile, stroke-worthy shopfront. Setting up shop on upper Latrobe Terrace in Paddington, Steven and Debra have decked out the boutique with their silky soft range of organic sheet sets, quilt covers, pillows, throws and Turkish towels, along with a complementary collection of products by like-minded designers.
Post its Molten Store pop-up appearance, the cloud designed by architect Paul Owen and copywriter Marianne Harvey in collaboration with Nick Flutter for a past Seven With Another exhibition has taken the spotlight in the front window, while a kids crib from Melbourne-based, Italian-made label Plyroom cradles bright yellow manchester. The shop will also act as a Brisbane showroom for Green Cathedral, stocking a bed, daybed, stools and coffee tables from the Noosa-based brand. Comfort-minded gifts like organic fairtrade tea leaves from Zhena’s Gypsy Tea, Robert Gordon ceramics, Essense Noosa candles and soaps and sweet eye masks dot the space, while Nordic Tales light bulbs dangle overhead. Hand-loomed towels, Babu organic crib sheets and Art Hide rugs complete the tangible experience of the material shop.
