Riverside dining developments at South Bank
Vacant since the 2011 floods, the deteriorating Riverside restaurants building could be set for a refresh with a development application submitted by the Katarzyna Hospitality Group.
The owners of the Cloudland, Empire Hotel and Family have their sights set on a waterfront precinct for their next venture. Perched along the river at South Bank, the group is planning a redevelopment of the old riverside building, turning the site into a drinking and dining precinct. Set to feature restaurants, bars, cafes and function rooms, the site will include a rooftop terrace and bar perfect for soaking up city views.
Similar to the group’s Fortitude Valley-based late-night venues, the hours of operation for the South Bank precinct are proposed to run until the early hours of the morning. Plans to open seven days a week, between 6:00–3:00 am, mean the hospitality venues will not only provide another option for early breakfast diners, but also encourage late-night feasting.
