Everingham & Watson launches family tartan print

Local Australiana chariot Everingham & Watson has embraced its Scottish roots and developed its own tartan based on founders Liz and Susie’s family tartans. The Everingham & Watson tartan has been dubbed Bruce + Sheila, melding the two cultures at the heart of the brand. The Bruce + Sheila tartan draws inspiration from the Buchanan and the Royal Stewart tartans steeped in Liz and Susie’s respective histories. This new pattern comes splayed across cushions, cards and a letterpress gift tag, which has been lovingly printed by Woolloongabba friendlies Little Peach Co.. The Bruce cushion is hand-screenprinted in royal blue and black ink on beige European linen, while Sheila employs royal blue and pink water-based inks on white European linen. Hospital corners tucked just so, the top folded down over the doona, creating a multi-layered, colourful cloud of a bed. Local bed linen designers Steven and Debra Clifford-Ames harnessed the important role sheets play in delivering a good night’s sleep and channelled it into organic brand Sheets on the Line. more

Houses Awards winners announced for 2014

The 2014 Houses Awards were held at Sydney’s Doltone House Hyde Park last week, with nine winners and 21 commendations awarded across the eight categories. The top honour of Australian House of the Year was awarded to the Invisible House by Peter Stutchbury Architecture, which sees a residential dwelling exhibiting beautiful connection to its panoramic landscape in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales. Brisbane-based studio Owen and Vokes and Peters was the sole Queensland firm amongst the winners, receiving two commendations. The Panorama Drive property in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland received a commendation in the House Alteration and Addition under 200 sqm, which saw strategic interventions to an existing timber house.
