Normanby Hotel car park to transform into four-star accommodation
A Brisbane development company has proposed to redevelop the car park of Red Hill’s most iconic hotel.
A proposal to redevelop the Normanby Hotel car park into a new four-star hotel, night club and beer garden has been submitted by Brisbane development company, LMRM Pty Ltd. The proposed 12-level development will offer 184 beautifully appointed short-term accommodation rooms, and will feature a basement nightclub, podium level pool, beer garden, gaming venue, and function rooms. In addition, a small 118sqm shop is planned to front Musgrave Road.
Built in 1889, the existing Normanby Hotel is one of Brisbane’s oldest landmarks, and is well known for its contribution to the Brisbane nightlife. However, the remaining local context could do with a bit of a makeover. The proposed development will enhance local character by replacing views to an aesthetically unappealing car park and storage area with views to an engaging streetscape, active ground plane, and iconic tower.
