Nord Architects Copenhagen head to Australia for the 2015 Droga residency
Understanding that architecture is fundamental to Australian culture, the Australian Institute of Architects Foundation launched the Droga Architect in Residence program, inviting prominent architects based outside of Australia to engage with the public and architectural community.
The idea of the program is to bring over architects whose work reflects the highest standard of excellence in design, research and practice. This year’s residency commenced on February 16, with Morten Rask Gregersen and Johannes Molander Pedersen of Nord Architects Copenhagen selected as the 2015 residents. Nord’s work specialises in public institutions, with notable designs including the Copenhagen Centre of Cancer and Health, House of Natural Sciences and Kids’ City. The team embraces participation and co-creation, and places a strong focus on developing new institutions that interact with both public and private sectors.
Morten and Johannes will share the residency, undertaking a program titled Collective Impact that includes a ‘research by design’ project and participation in a series of postgraduate workshops. Public lectures have been confirmed in both Sydney and Melbourne for March, and Morten has been scheduled to lecture in Brisbane in April. Keep an eye on the Droga Architect in Residence page for updates.
