New Metro apartments proposed for South Brisbane

The former TAFE site at 1 Cordelia Street in South Brisbane is set to be transformed into multiple apartment towers of up to 30 storeys, featuring iconic architecture, inventive recreational areas and retail opportunities.

David Devine of Metro Property Development has lodged an application to council, proposing the New World Towers development for the site that borders Cordelia, Peel and Boundary Streets. The residential project will comprise two 30-storey towers and one ten-storey tower, featuring 602 apartments in total across one-, two- and three-bedroom designs.

The towers have been designed by Brisbane-based architecture firm Bureau Proberts, and will feature an iconic web-shaped annex, adding a new dimension to South Brisbane’s skyline. The $291 million project will include a central recreation zone with a pool, cinema, barbecue and garden, while three retail opportunities are also planned for each corner of the site. If approved, stage one of the development will be completed in late 2016.
