Natural-feel maple has been used to craft the set – a nod to the stories’ setting in the Hundred Acre Wood – with each piece then clad in character-specific coloured knitting. The knitted additions create subtle distinctions of each character, the woollen weaving imitating clothing, hair or tails. The maker, Canadian-born, Japanese artist Oki Sato, suggests the tables are like stuffed animals too – the knitting adding no functional quality, but is comforting nonetheless.

nendo was founded in 1997 and works across interior and product design, graphic design and architecture, as well as exhibitions of art and design works. This commission is one of hundreds of intriguing collaborations nendo has been involved in over the years, with recent projects including shoe design for Camper and a mug redesign for Starbucks.
