When it comes to keeping things timeless, often simplicity is the key. This is something that the brains behind cult retailer Mast Furniture understand very well – the brand’s focus on creating pieces that will be treasured for years to come has earned it a loyal and growing following. Up until now Mast has been an online operation, but the team is about to open the brand’s very first showroom – giving people a chance to fall in love with the goods in person before making a purchase.

The Mast Furniture story started back in 2012 in Sunshine Coast town of Noosa Heads. Couple Rory and Kati Morgan started the company, with Christian Håkansson coming on board later as a worker and then eventual part owner. The trio has a diverse collective resume that works together to create a total dream team – Rory has a background in architecture and design and is a mainly self-taught furniture maker, Kati has a business degree and comes from the marketing and retail world, and Christian ditched the accountant life to become a furniture maker. The brand’s clean and simple designs earned them some serious popularity, and an increase in production led to a move to Brisbane in July 2017.

The concept of a Mast Furniture showroom was hatched more than a year ago, with the team not wanting to rush the process of creating their first retail space. All of the Mast pieces in the showroom are produced in-house at the company’s Virginia factory following a rigorous design and prototype process. The showroom will showcase not only a wide range of Mast Furniture, but also a carefully curated selection of home goods from all around the world. The team has sourced everything from Japanese glassware to soaps from New Zealand, all in the name of providing some treasure that you wouldn’t usually find in Brisbane.

Want to see all of the goodness for yourself? The Mast Furniture showroom is opening its doors from Friday October 26 – you can find more details and opening hours on the website.
