The Eagle Street precinct is set to get a lush terrace bar and restaurant

Since the closure of beloved Eagle Street fine-dining institution Esquire, we’ve been patiently waiting to see what will take up residence at the prime riverfront site. It seems that the wait might finally be over, with hospitality giant Mantle Group throwing its hat into the ring to completely transform the space into a brand-new terrace bar and restaurant.

When it comes to big names in the Brisbane hospitality scene, Mantle Group has some serious clout. The food and beverage conglomerate has an impressive resume in regards to our city’s dining landscape – think Tai Tai, The Charming Squire and the whole collection of Pig’n’Whistle restaurants – and it is vying to add another spot to its growing list. The submitted development application would see the 145 Eagle Street site completely refurbished, with the addition of an outdoor dining area and bar.

The Mantle Group proposal has been designed by Brisbane’s own Hogg & Lamb, taking on a distinct subtropical river garden theme designed to maximise the city’s climate and the site’s views. The existing tenancy and paved terrace area will be overhauled for a food and drink outlet and hotel, while a new terrace will also be created over existing stairs at the site. There will also be landscaping and public seating implemented to open up the space and make it more activated.
