Melbourne design team Hunting for George debuts furniture collection

Five years ago, Melbourne sisters Lucy Glade-Wright and Jo Harris decided to create an online interiors store that offered something a little different to everywhere else. Eventually they began to visualise their own range of products, starting with a simple print, then quickly expanding to include handmade clocks, pure-cotton bed linen and textile accessories. Hunting for George has recently reached another milestone, with Lucy and Jo releasing their first range of Australian-made furniture.

When looking for the perfect bed for her son Oliver, Jo realised it was going to be difficult to find something that was just right. Instead, she decided to design a simplistic bed frame that would work well in any environment, allowing flexibility for a growing boy. This simple concept was the beginning of the first Hunting for George furniture collection.

Following the aptly named Oliver Bed, which is available in single and queen sizes, Jo and Lucy created a matching bench and bedside table. The furniture collection is designed and crafted in Melbourne, and each piece features Tasmanian oak veneer and a powder-coated tube steel frame available in soft white and cloudy blue. To accompany the collection, Hunting for George will be launching its new range of textiles and homewares, Moody Blues, in May. The range adopts a more masculine look than its predecessors, with subdued hues of navy, charcoal, mustard and blue-grey offset by simple graphic designs. Moody Blues will include quilt and sheet sets, fabric and leather cushions, prints, and clocks, crafted from the likes of 100% Australian wool, copper metallic foiling and hand-poured concrete. Shipping from Hunting for George is available Australia wide, or you can pick up if you happen to be in Melbourne.
