Hundo Instruments adds a bit of magic to music making
Two Australian musicians with a keen eye for aesthetics have created a range of instruments with a strong focus on handmade construction and functional design.
You might not be immediately familiar with the names Henry and Jack Madin, but there is a good chance you are acquainted with their band The Harpoons. The sublime R’n’B group captured Australia’s hearts with its debut album Falling For You, and now one half of the band has recently debuted its design project Hundo Instruments. This musical instrument company began as a way for Henry and Jack to make the process of music creation simpler while still keeping things fun.
The duo set about designing instruments that suited their own needs as musicians, creating a small range of easy-to-use instruments out of pine and Tasmanian oak. The Hundo Basic is a simple and elegantly designed drum-pad that can plug into any laptop or iPad, giving users the ability to create sounds, beats and chords with ease. Hundo Instruments also offers an acoustic marimba, with interchangeable notes – perfect for improvisation. These instruments are suitable for both seasoned music makers and relative newcomers – head to the Hundo Instruments website to have a closer look at the phenomenally crafted goods now.
