Owners of Green Beacon Brewing Company Marc Chrismas and Adrian Slaughter decided on an old warehouse in Teneriffe to realise their brewery dreams, employing Marc’s brother Paul (director of James Cubitt Architects) to execute the interiors. By stripping back the late-1920s warehouse to showcase the original brickwork, the new fitout preserved the heritage of the building while injecting a sustainability focus into the interiors.

Connecting the brewers and patrons, the bar is the highlight of the design, made from recycled timber segments laminated together. A nautical thread weaves through the logo and wall mural, while US Navy chairs are arranged around recycled timber tables. The construction process required function to meld with design values, disguising the brewery machinery and equipment in an aesthetically pleasing manner, and maintaining a loading dock within the existing structure. This saw the original warehouse roller door retained, allowing for easy deliveries and for the warm glow of the bar to permeate the quiet street. The green bar stools were made by Sydney collective DesignByThem from 100% recycled consumer waste.
