Instagram stardom is a fickle beast that many strive for but few manage to achieve, no matter how many hashtags they cram into each post. But the social media tool proved to be the saviour for local design duo Kitty Danger and Al Barras.

After designing a coffee table together, they snapped a pic, gave it the VSCO treatment, and uploaded it to their Instagram feed. Soon after they were inundated with orders for the item. Figuring they were onto a good thing, they decided to officially join forces to make modern industrial home accoutrements (from coffee tables to plant harnesses) under the moniker fifteenthirtyeight. Al and Kitty, who describe their ethos as simply striving to create “eff-off awesome furniture and objects,” make each piece by hand in their Paddington studio.
