Commuters in Brisbane’s inner south and north will be able to bypass a good majority of CBD and Fortitude Valley traffic when the newly unveiled plans for the Cross River Rail are completed over the next five years. Alongside the proposed Brisbane Metro Subway System, this massive addition to Brisbane’s transport infrastructure will see new services added to Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street, Roma Street and the Exhibition showgrounds, with new surrounding developments at each site improving access to local institutions and landmarks.

State Government forecasts predict that Brisbane’s current transport system is approaching its peak capacity, and the Cross River Rail will alleviate the pressure where growth corridors converge on the CBD. Construction is set to commence in 2018, with completion estimated for 2023.
