The round-up: the restaurants ready to feed you (at home) this Easter weekend in Brisbane

It's wild to think it's Easter this weekend, right? In light of everything going on, plus self-isolating, it's easy to lose track of the dates. With holidays deemed non-essential and unnecessary travel advised against, it's safe to say most of us (as we should be), will be staying at home this extra-long weekend. But that doesn't mean we can't still have a good (Friday) time! Instead of our traditional 'what's open this Easter' round-up, we have put together a list of places that want to make sure your Easter feasting is still extra special at home with their seafood and takeaway offerings. Be sure to get in quick – some venues require pre-orders to ensure you get your spread in time! more

Make like Picasso – the paint-and-sip studios going digital

Due to the new government legislations stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the entertainment and creative industries have had to adapt and make changes to help them weather the storm. Included in this resilient bunch are some local paint-and-sip studios that have adjusted their usual routines and have moved their classes online. That means you can now create your version of an artistic masterpiece with help from the experts in the comfort of your sweatpants. We've rounded up a few of the studios that are offering live streamed art sessions so instead of trying to teach yourself how to paint during self-isolation, you can consult the experts – wine in hand, of course. Before you break out the pinot, read on ... more

Save our Supply launches to help us show our support and save local hospitality

We all know that right now our hospitality industry, and its suppliers, are in need of some serious support. As a community we have already come out in force, ordering takeaway from our favourites to help them continue to trade through these tough times. With the landscape changing so rapidly around us, however, it can be easy to forget to spread the love, and also to throw some to the much-loved venues that have been forced to temporarily close. Save Our Supply has launched to help remind us, providing a 'status report' on how we can support our favourite restaurants and cafes during the coronavirus crisis. more

Remote reading – Brisbane City Council brings your local library to your lounge room

With all this new-found spare time, there has never been a better opportunity to dive into a new read. Whether you want to bury yourself into a new-release paperback, munch on some popcorn whilst watching your favourite rom-com or you're keen to learn a new language, Brisbane City Council is bringing the library (including resources like books, movies and music) right to your living room – and better yet, it's all for free! more

Beloved culinary queen Maggie Beer is here to elevate isolation with wholesome online cooking classes

It only takes a quick one-minute scroll through Instagram to realise that everyone is suddenly living their best iso lives in the kitchen. Cookies, muffins, bread, pasta sauces and pickles – so many people are giving it a red-hot crack and we are absolutely here for it. Do you know what we're not here for? Burnt and soul-crushingly inedible banana bread. Making rock-hard cookies that resemble golf balls. Oh, and not being able to poach eggs like our favourite cafe down the road. Everything is going to be a-okay, though – because sweet angel Maggie Beer is here to get those of us who simply do not excel in the kitchen through these trying times. more

Keep listening – QMusic Connect goes live to help Queensland’s music industry navigate change

The live-music industry has been forced into an unimaginable period of change. The combination of cancelled performances, venue closures and the air of uncertainty circling future shows has been more than enough to bring much of the industry to its knees. This week, QMusic Connect, a series of free online workshops and masterclasses, went live in a bid to support, connect and upskill Queensland’s contemporary music community during this unprecedented climate. more
