The latest exhibitions to reach Paddington’s Red Hill Gallery simultaneously explore a snapshot of the world around us, as well as the concept of home. Joseph Zbukvic is one of the world’s most celebrated watercolourists, and he resides right here in Brisbane. The winner of more than 200 awards, Joseph was born in Yugoslavia but has resided in Australia since 1970. His latest exhibition To Vienna & Back is a collection of European snapshots, full of movement and emotion. Also on display are the works of Kayo Kokoyama. Homeland is a capsule of works made from Kayo’s chosen medium – glass sculpture. Just like Joseph, Kayo is an adopted Australian but celebrates her new environment in each piece, as well as the concept of home.
@ Red Hill Gallery, August 10–26
