The Catchment Brewing Co
150 Boundary Street, West End
The Catchment Brewing Co resides in a stunning old Art Deco building near the crossroads of Boundary and Vulture Streets, a building that was for many years the home of George’s Fresh Seafood and Westside Tattoo. It has undergone a complete transformation since then – its interiors evolved bit by bit, as unsightly bulkheads and strips of plaster were carefully removed from the walls and ceiling, revealing beautiful glimpses into the building’s history. From the original pressed-metal ceilings and architraves to a perfectly preserved Art Deco glass panel on the wide front window, these elements give The Catchment Brewing Co a great sense of character and nostalgia. Concrete and wrought-iron details provide a stark contrast to warm exposed bulbs and timber floors indoors, while outside festoon lighting and colourful street art from local artists Dan Krause, Treazy and Maria Hrisafinas brighten up the outdoor space. Beer is king here, with on-site fermentation tanks and brewing equipment throughout the space, but wine certainly has its place – evident from the impressive feature wall laden with wine barrel lids from South Australia, New Zealand and Napa Valley.
