Fitz + Potts
Upstairs at 1180 Sandgate Road, Nundah
Velvet tasseled lamp shades. Plastic pink flamingos. Burnt-orange lace curtains. Canary-yellow pleather stools. All in the same space. Sounds like a bit of a train wreck, right? Wrong. The beautiful mess we are describing is Fitz + Potts in Nundah, a suburban bar with plenty of character. The sunny venue is the brainchild of Cassie Potts and sits on the top level of a Queenslander which, prior to being a bar, was converted into an office and dentist. The duo wanted to bring the house back to its former life by injecting some kitsch vintage into the space – and the result is a place that you just want to stay and hang out in, resembling your grandmother’s house circa 1975, but with a super-cool edge. The interconnecting rooms have everything from painted cane furniture to tropical wallpaper, items that are so bad they are just so good.
