A blind date could be the start of a romantic tale or an awkward few hours you’ll never gain back. So why has Serbian-Australian actress Bojana Novakovic purposely co-created a theatrical performance where each night she is faced with a new mystery performer in which to ‘get to know’ and no script? Guided only by text messages from director (Tanya Goldberg), Bojana’s character Anna is facing her fear of the unknown and taking a risk that could end in love, lust or devastation, by blinding meeting a new chap each night in a kitsch karaoke bar. Showing at Brisbane Powerhouse until Saturday, cringe, laugh and nod along at the all-too-common experiences that evolve when two strangers are thrown together for a night of modern courting. The Weekend Edition caught up with Bojana to discover her perfect weekend.
How do you like to start your weekend?
Sleeping.
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning?
Sleep in.
How do you like to unwind?
Fall asleep on the couch watching sport.
What are your essentials for a well-spent weekend?
Sleep, the weekend papers and the willingness to do nothing.
What’s something you’ve been meaning to do on the weekend but haven’t got around to yet?
SLEEP!
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday evening?
My favourite thing to do is sleep, but generally Sunday evenings are spent cramming all the work I need to finish in order to start the week.
What are you looking forward to next weekend?
Getting everything done on time so that I can sleep.

Believing in love.

Being able to live in the moment.
What are your words of wisdom?
I can’t begin to pretend that I am wise. But my favourite at the moment is from Samuel Beckett – “Ever Tried. Ever Failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
