How do you like to start your weekend?
Nothing beats a few drinks at my studio on a Friday afternoon with friends.
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning?
Strolling to the dog park, a wander through the markets and a visit to my local coffee shop, Black Cafe.
How do you like to unwind?
A stack of magazines, a comfy couch and some great company.
What are your essentials for a well-spent weekend?
Coffee, motorbikes, whisky, friends and family …
What’s something you’ve been meaning to do on the weekend but haven’t got around to yet?
A little weekend adventure down to Tasmania. I have been planning a quick escape down there for months with my girlfriend but something always seems to pop up. I’m longing for a little southern escape …
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday evening?
Would have to be a family dinner with the folks. Lots of laughs and general family banter to end or kick off the week … I think it’s good for the soul.
What are you looking forward to next weekend?
My sister is having her first baby soon. So while the women are baby showering, we lads are off for a boys boating weekend. Plenty of fishing and whisky … But the whisky is purely to prevent scurvy, of course.
What are you reading at the moment?
I’m reading Woodsmanship by Bernard S. Mason. It’s a great little book that covers everything from good axe maintenance to raft building and how to safely lop a tree.
What inspires you?
My inspiration comes from lots of different sources. But right now Tumblr is my go-to for visual inspiration and ideas.
What was your childhood dream?
In year 6 I did a project on the cheetah and stumbled across a picture in National Geographic. I said to myself ‘one day I’ll take a better picture than that’, so I suppose my childhood dream was to be a photographer. But I’m pretty sure there was a period where I did find the position of a Stop and Go man rather desirable.
What has been your greatest achievement?
I am proud of running my own business and, in doing so, knowing that every day I get to do something that I truly love. It hasn’t always been easy, but I guess that’s what makes all the little achievements so much sweeter.
What is success to you?
Leaving behind a legacy you are proud of.
What are your words of wisdom?
Be honest with yourself, work hard and do something that makes you happy.
Only a local would know … to avoid Sandgate Road after 4:00 pm.
