The Wickham

After a seven-month refurbishment process nightlife pillar and beloved LGBTQIA+ venue The Wickham reopen to the public in March 2023, showing off the results of its magnificent $3.1 million revamp. The makeover, led by architect Jon Mikulic of Newline Design, has resulted in a revamped beer garden (now with a built-in, weather-proofed stage), a new fully-equipped kitchen and improvements to The Wickham’s indoor spaces – now known as The Peacock Room and Garland Room. Executive chef Dylan Kemp is putting the new kitchen gear to good use, launching a new menu that includes stone-baked pizzas, cauliflower hot bites, fried quail with truffle mash, deep-fried Golden Gaytimes and fairy bread, as well as a dog-friendly menu featuring crispy pig skin, meat balls and peanut butter. The bar selection has been given a refresh, with a cocktail menu (curated by beverage director Kevin Peters) drawing inspiration from the 1970s disco era. Signature sips like the Disco Fruit Tingle (which is served in a disco ball) and the Glitter Bellini with edible glitter will be available alongside other libations, including a range of non-alcoholic wines, spirits, beer and cocktails. Once open, The Wickham will offer live entertainment from Thursday to Sunday, including musicians, drag performers, burlesque, comedy shows and Thursday night trivia.
