The Providore Store

Set away on a tiny tree-lined street opposite the Albion train station is The Providore Store, a small cafe devoted to exploring creative gourmet flavours, Australian food artisans and home cooking. With polished floors, eggshell-coloured walls, The Providore Store manages to be aesthetically minimal and cosy. Strangers commune together at the large, raw wooden bench in the centre of the room, where a pile of secondhand books is readily at hand. Handcrafted gifts and vintage treasures are dotted thoughtfully throughout, tucked in hard-to-reach places and sprinkled along windowsills. Celebrating the beauty of local flavours, The Providore Store stocks products like Australian wattleseed macadamia chocolates, sweet conserves, savoury sauces, organic quinoa, lentils and pasta. The menu is divided into breakfast, lunch and sweets, and includes simple dishes like Levain organic banana bread and roast vegetable ciabatta made with seasonal produce.
