Proud Henry Wine Bar & Ginoteca

Anyone that takes their sundowner sipping seriously knows that gin is one of the most popular spirits on the market, and Australia is at the forefront of the market for gin production and consumption. One of Fortitude Valley’s preeminent havens for gin lovers – Proud Henry – has been growing alongside the industry, making it a must-try for any botanical brainiac. After opening in 2017, Proud Henry changed hands, beginning a new life under the ownership of of a sommelier and a winemaker couple – two knowledgable minds well acquainted with the merits of a vast array of wine and gins. The Proud Henrys selection has blossomed under this stewardship to incorporate a jaw-dropping range of gins – more than 250 kinds that are generally unavailable in Australia. This means that Proud Henrys is the largest gin bar in Queensland, and the third-largest of its kind in Australia. Cocktails have been added to the offering, including martinis and negronis, but even the classic gin-and-tonic drinkers are amply catered for. Wines are still a major focus, with the bar’s range expanded to incorporate boutique natural and minimal-intervention drops, as well as plenty of worldly varietals. If you spot a label on the shelves that you’re interested in adding to your own collection, Proud Henry is licensed to sell wine bottles take away. Drinkers that also boast an appetite can order Uber Eats direct to Proud Henrys. Proud Henry operates as a boutique wine shop during the day, serving coffee, charcuterie and cheese platters, before transforming into the gin bar from 5:00 pm onwards. Keep your eyes peeled for more changes in the future, as the Proud Henrys team converts its cellar space into a natural wine bar.
