Keep it simple with Loading Dock Espresso, West End

What was literally a loading dock consisting of a hollow concrete space and roller door at the end of a driveway off West End’s main drag has become a hidden favourite for espresso drinkers and The Bun Mobile’s ‘bunstars’.

Starting with just a coffee machine on a cart plonked in the middle of the concrete cave, the team behind Sunshine Coast roasters Mambo Coffee have built a coffee shop around it. Using a few different blends of in-house beans, Loading Dock Espresso is first Brisbane location for Mambo Coffee.

Serving up a mean latte and simple fare of $2 toast, delectable brownies and a breakfast cookie of champions, there’s also Tea Drop teas, chai, and hot chocolate for the non-coffee drinker. Run by avid milk-crate collectors with groovy dance moves (which get a work out when The Bun Mobile folk are hanging about), here you can pull up a milk crate outside and take five to enjoy your morning joe under the toasty warmth of the outdoor heaters. You can also take your cake upstairs amongst the gallery space, displaying works by local artists. With street art sprayed across one wall, you can’t miss Loading Dock Espresso as you hike up Edmondstone Street to this off-the-beaten-track coffee nook.
