Mestia Airport

It’s fascinating how an airport can set the tone for a traveller’s next voyage. Those who find themselves surrounded by hectic mayhem might arrive at their destination in a flap, whilst travellers who embark from an uncluttered streamlined airport might feel a sense of calm. Designed by Berlin-based architects J. Mayer H., the curiously shaped airport in the tiny town of Mestia is an architectural feat. Located in the far-northern reaches of Georgia (bordering Russia), the Mestia Airport encompasses two pipe-like structures that reach towards nearby towering mountain ranges and ski
slopes.
