Pomeroy’s Coffee and Tea Co. opens first Australian venue

Celebrated New Zealand-based tea and coffee specialists Pomeroy’s has crossed the ditch to open its first Australian venue at Capri on Via Roma. Pomeroy’s Australia is owned and operated by Nathan and Lahnie Ward under the watchful eye of kiwi creator and world coffee judge, Hayden Thompson and his mother Leigh Thompson.

Often playing second fiddle to its perkier sister, coffee, tea is habitually an afterthought in cafes with drinkers generally lucky to have the choice between a green, herbal and a traditional variety. Pomeroy’s Australia, on the other hand, is dedicated to the experience of specialty tea as well as coffee and has more than 20 different blends including oolongs, flavoured greens and summery cold-brewed fruit teas to tickle your tastebuds. If you’re feeling adventurous, give the Babas brew a whirl. Containing elderberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackcurrant, the Babas blend offers a refreshing burst of flavour. The teas are brewed to perfection in a Hario tea dripper and arrive at your table ready to drink with no steeping required.

Alongside tea, Pomeroy’s Australia offers six single origin coffees and six coffee blends that are sourced from all around the world and roasted in-house by Pomeroy’s Australia in accordance with strict guidelines from its founders. With more choices than your local fast-food outlet, it would be easy to be overwhelmed with the variety however lucky for you, the exceptionally knowledgeable crew is more than happy to recommend a brew for you. If you’re feeling a tad peckish, there is a selection of sweet and savoury goodies from Providore Marina Mirage to take your fancy. Filling the void left by Blackboard coffee at Capri on Via Roma, Pomeroy’s Australia certainly lives up to its reputation as tea and coffee specialists. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.
