At long last Balter Brewing Company opens its doors!

After teasing the beer-swilling populace for what feels like a lifetime, Balter Brewing Company has finally opened the doors to Balter HQ in Currumbin! The new venture is the work of mates Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Stirling Howland, Sean Ronan, Josh Kerr, Bede Durbidge and Ant MacDonald and has taken 16 months to come to fruition.

By definition, balter means ‘to dance artlessly without particular skill or grace, but usually with enjoyment’, which is quite fitting since that’s exactly what you’ll be doing when you get a glimpse of your new favourite watering hole. The gigantic 750 square metre industrial warehouse is a beer lovers happy place and is equipped with a 35 hectolitre brewhouse, tasting room and plenty of places to park your keister to enjoy a beverage or two.

Not content with any old beer, Balter Brewing Company set out to create beer that transforms your worldview of what a beer can be and to do that they enlisted multi-award-winning brewer Scott Hargrave. For opening weekend, there were two beers on tap, the XPA that popped up in bars around the Gold Coast a little while back, and the brand new ALT Brown, which was so popular the kegs ran dry. Don’t worry though, this weekend there will be a brand new IPA to wet your whistle. Within 12 months there are plans to release three foundation beers as well as limited release brews so there will always be something new to try. Balter HQ is open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and there will be food trucks on hand so swing by for a bite, a beer and maybe a little balter.
