Step back in time at GarterBelts & Gasoline Nostalgia Festival
The seventh annual GarterBelts & Gasoline Nostalgia Festival is back for 2015 and bringing with it a four-day celebration of 1950s culture. The event kicks off Thursday October 1 and runs through to Monday October 5.
If you’re looking for an alternative to various football matches this long weekend, GarterBelts & Gasoline could be right up your alley. Ogle hot rods, channel your inner siren in a burlesque workshop or shake, rattle and roll to blues and alternative country bands from Australia and abroad at the 2015 GarterBelts & Gasoline Nostalgia Festival. The fair takes over Tamborine Mountain and offers a jam-packed program starting with the popular Rockabilly Ball on Friday October 2. Back it up with The Saturday Night Meltdown at The Vonda Youngman Centre featuring the hotly-contested GarterBelts & Gasoline pin-up contest and on Sunday, the Kustom Kulture Art Exhibition pays homage to all things cool, namely hot rods, 1950s pop culture and brilliantly bad B-grade movies.
Even if you’re not a crazy car enthusiast, there is loads to see and do. Catch a flick in an old world theatre or have a laugh and witness one of Australia’s only vintage soapbox derby races. Get yourself a ticket to GarterBelts & Gasoline, maybe even make a weekend of it and book some accommodation to save you having to trek up the mountain each day.
