Travelling Wares caravan

Discover the kitsch goods of Travelling Wares

A kitsch caravan that travels the countryside selling butter knives, English pudding bowls and enamelware sounds like something out of frontier days. Instead it’s the retro-inspired creation of Brisbane-based stylist and vintage retailer Kara Rosenlund.

After a successful career in photography both locally and abroad, Kara returned to Australia and set up roaming shop Travelling Wares. Her caravan – a stylishly restored 1956 Franklin camper named ‘Frankie’ – can be found at local markets, surrounded by a carefully curated set-up of local and internationally found kitsch goods.

Inspired by Kara’s love of an early morning brocante hunt, rummaging about the trestle tables of markets in Europe, Travelling Wares stocks old wares and utilitarian pieces, from French wooden spoons and antiquarian bread knives to Australian preserving jars and original apothecary jars.

This Saturday November 10, you’ll find Travelling Wares at the Jan Power Farmers Markets at Brisbane Powerhouse from 6:00 am until 1:00 pm, or drop by the recently launched online shop.
