Snuggle up with Brisbane’s Maker & Merchant

Sisterly bonding has resulted in a quirky range of handmade homewares care of Brisbane label, Maker & Merchant.

Three Brisbane sisters have combined business with family to craft a collection of screen-printed and hand-drawn cushions, tea towels and accessories for you – plus some cute plaid pillows for your pooch. Imelda, Cecelia and Sonia Ryan may have very different tastes, but these womenfolk have found a happy medium that sees natural fabrics like linen, cotton and wool embellished with endearing sketches and scribbles for their line, Maker & Merchant.

Their distinctive DIY aesthetic is taken to the next level with the Maker & Merchant hand-drawn bed quilt. A grey linen blend outer is filled with bamboo wadding and secured with cotton hand-stitched binding, then imprinted with hand-drawn details like neon pink clouds, giant blue and yellow spots, and red crosses. The label was launched in late 2012 when two of the Ryan sisters hit a career crossroads and transformed it into a ‘crisitunity’ by tuning into their creative instincts. Browse the collection online through the Maker & Merchant e-store or Etsy.
