Melbourne label Elwood channels a rugged look this winter
Australian label Elwood is mostly known for its casual tees, jeans and leather jackets, but under the creative direction of new brand manager Davd Vial, Elwood’s attire is now chanelling the slightly scruffy lumberjack look.
Elwood’s transition began with the release of its current autumn/winter collection, which has seen the brand’s trademark preppy hoodies styled alongside chinos, plaid shirts and peacoats, rather than jeans and sneakers. The brand’s change of direction reflects the current mood in menswear, with Aussie gents stepping up in the style stakes of late. Simplicity, attention to tailoring and the classic Australian aesthetic were the creative inspirations for the collection.
Based in Melbourne, Elwood has always strived to create garments of a high quality and this overarching aim remains in the new-look current collection, meaning all garments are assured to last longer than a season. This is good news for Brisbane denizens, as our winters tend not to hang around for too long.
