Discover new local skateboard brand Cottage Skateboards
While out skating one afternoon, local lads Michael Fenwick and Jimmy Kakanis began chatting about the perfect board – something that had eluded them until that moment when they began toying with the idea of making their own. And so new label Cottage Skateboards was born.
Michael’s carpentry skills from his day job transferred nicely to the new project, and research helped them hone their new craft until eventually their perfect board was created – the perfect board being one they’d want to ride every day until the wheels fall off. And when that day comes, a perfect board would be hard to part with, which is why each board by Cottage Skateboards bears a design fit for hanging on the wall.
All Cottage Skateboards are made from sustainable timbers and salvaged materials, and scraps from the boards are then repurposed into other goods such as photo frames. Once a board is created, it is then passed along to a local artist to design. The boys have worked with a number of artists, and are always looking for new artists to collaborate with.
Until the online store is launched, Jimmy and Michael are only creating custom skateboards and longboards. To chat with them about having your own board made, you can get in touch via the Facebook page.
