Spanish Caravan rolls into Principessa, Fortitude Valley

When The Doors penned the lyrics to ‘Spanish Caravan’ in 1968, little did the band members know that the tune would inspire an Australian clothing label more than 40 years later.

Afflicted by wanderlust, the founders of Australian label Spanish Caravan use their vintage-style clothing label as a means to channel their love for travel. The label’s name is taken from The Doors’ song, which muses about travelling from Spain to Portugal and not wanting the trip to end, and each collection is inspired by tales from far-flung destinations. Stories woven into past designs include that of cunning gang of street kids from Dubrovnik in Serbia, as well as the yarn of a group of break dancers from San Francisco.

Through their range of clothing and accessories, the founders of Spanish Caravan hope to instil a sense of adventure and also encourage wearers to look for alternatives to mass-produced clothing.

To check out the goods for yourself, drop in to Principessa in Fortitude Valley, which is currently stocking a selection of the brand’s t-shirts and snapback hats.
