Song for the Mute delivers new Ciel collection

A brand that bares its love of textures and takes a contemporary approach to design, Song for the Mute has dropped its latest collection Ciel within Brisbane lads’ reach.

The Australian menswear label is the creation of Parisian-born, Italian-trained fashion designer Lyna Ty and graphic artist Melvin Tanaya. Founded in 2008, the label’s dark drapage has been gathering awards and turning heads in high places ever since. Ciel contains all the trappings of a Song for the Mute collection – intricate collar detailing, mixed-texture ensembles and a paired back palette of blacks and dirty whites. With the French word ‘ciel’ translating to ‘sky’, the collection also reflects elements of the atmosphere overhead, with tones of dark blue and grey imbued amongst the traditionally monochromatic hues.

The pieces translate perfectly to a Queensland winter wardrobe with tailored jackets, layered shirting and half-sleeve jumpers. Though the brand’s current offerings see a level of androgyny throughout the design – with a tank easily traversing to the female wardrobe – Song for the Mute is expected to extend its direction to womenswear in the near future.
