Dreamy homewares boutique Showroom is set to reopen in a loft-style space in the Brisbane CBD.

Though we may be viewed as a sleepy city, Brisbane’s retail landscape is constantly evolving as local creatives hatch new ideas, shops pop up in unexpected spaces and others dart between the suburbs. Concept storefront and workshop space Showroom closed the doors to its Paddington Queenslander on Latrobe Terrace for the last time on Sunday July 12, heralding an imminent move to the city. Store owner and The Spring Shop creator Catherine Roberts has been working hard behind the scenes over the past few weeks, preparing the new space for business.

Showroom’s new home at 104 Edward Street will be unveiled to the public for the first time on Monday July 27. Boasting high ceilings, natural light and polished timber floorboards, the enchanting space sits inside a heritage-listed building dating back to the 1880s. Enter via the surreptitious doorway next to Le Bon Choix and ascend the time-honoured stairs to this haven of little treasures. Daybeds, tables and assorted furniture from Melbourne makers Tait will be making their Brisbane debut for an exclusive six-month pop-up in the store, alongside items from Soak Society, West End Tea Co. and Bondi Wash. Co-working venture Workroom will continue to operate from the rear of the new boutique, while Homeroom will also find a new home in the CBD space for its series of workshops.
