Take a manly cooking class at Vanilla Zulu

If the current horde of cooking programs resonating from the television has caught your attention, but when you try to transfer the efforts to your own plate the best you can fashion is Vegemite on toast, it may be time to ring in a real-life helping hand. Gather your steak-and-chips-abled lads and brace the culinary challenges together with a men’s cooking class.

From burnt toast and tinned soup to homemade bread and hand-filleted fish, your kitchen kudos are about to graduate from university-student depths to pantry wizard. Shaping classes specifically for the lad who wants to impress in the kitchen, executive chef Melanie Townsend at Vanilla Zulu Culinary Adventures will walk you through the steps to plating up a decadent dish of wagyu and wine to astound your future dinner guests. Located in Wilston, the classes will see you learn about knives and carving, and to spatchcock a chicken and bake your own bread. Taking a hands-on approach, each class sees amateur masterchefs learn to prepare a feast, before noshing down on the culinary efforts – you can even BYO your beverages of choice as a satisfying reward.

The March class calendar also sees Vanilla Zulu impart its knowledge across a range of global cuisines – from Mediterranean, Portuguese and Mozambican tastes to modern French fare and Moroccan eats.
