Maripossa’s El Homenaje comes to Fallow in The Valley

Maripossa’s El Homenaje comes to Fallow in The Valley

When Lauren Besser was 21, she set off on a journey through Central and South America, igniting her love for Latino culture. After encountering the remarkable local women whose handicrafts provide a means to live, Lauren made her longstanding passion to craft her own jewellery a reality with Maripossa – the name a playful reference to the Spanish word for butterfly.

Engaging her background in psychology and fashion, Lauren handweaves and knits raw metals into fine, embattled forms, resulting in softer, yarn-like pieces.

These contrasting design notions are a tribute to Lauren’s past experience of enduring an earthquake in Los Angeles at the impressionable age of 12, drawing inspiration from the wrath and unpredictability of nature’s elements.

Embellishing unpolished sterling silver and bronze with crushed earth crystals and hand-painted colour, this symbolic El Homenaje collection is now available at Fallow in Fortitude Valley.
