Dress feline with a dash of leopard print

Leopard, like many of its animal-print cousins, is a bold splash of colour that has found favour within the wardrobes of fashion’s leading ladies. While the loud-and-proud design is often avoided by wallflowers, there is room for leopard print in everyone’s collection of clothing, if only in small doses.

Noted style mavens of the modern day Anna Della Russo and Alexa Chung are regularly seen donning splashes of the print. But the pattern has also played a part in the wardrobe of historically sartorial figures – the ever-influential Edie Sedgwick wore leopard to sidle up to Andy Warhol, while leopard also took place in the rather more demure ensembles of former first lady, Jackie Onassis.

Leopard remains one of the most classic prints and, for those intimidated by its presence, is easy enough to wear even if only as an accent. Leopard-print accessories are the easiest way to subtly incorporate the pattern – try sunglasses, belts, scarves and even shoes that are printed in the feline design.

For those who wish to flaunt their love for leopard, a leopard-print coat is an effortlessly stylish way to brighten up winter days with something punchy. Drape it over all-black ensembles for the best effect.
